Riding the Swamp Rabbit Trail

Last October I was able to ride part of the Swamp Rabbit Trail in Greenville, South Carolina. The weather was perfect for riding - sunny and 70 degrees with no wind.



I started out from the trailhead in Travelers Rest and rode about 11 miles to Reedy River Falls Park before turning around because of heavy pedestrian traffic. I was riding on a Sunday at the same time as the annual Food Festival in Greenville. There were too many people in town to maneuver a bike around. I plan on riding the entire 18.5 miles of this trail again next spring when I return to South Carolina.

The part of the Swamp Rabbit Trail that I rode was paved. Since it was originally a railroad grade there are no steep hills, so it is a pretty easy ride that would be perfect for a family.
